The
Swinging Stars Square Dance Club is a mainstream club which was formed
in 1962,even before RRVA was an entity!! Currently the club has 80+
members and still growing. Our dances are held the 2nd & 4th Saturdays
,September through April each year at 812 Travis,Wichita Falls,Texas
( Square Dance Land ) The club does not dance May-August but do many
other fun ,square dance activities .
The Club Caller is Robert Walker out of Bowie ,Texas ,along with his
talented and lovely "taw' Pam .who leads line dances between
tips .They have been with the club since 1987. We are truly blessed
to have a talented duo !!!

The club begins the dance year with a Tailgate Party dance in September
and continues on with a theme each month during our dance season .In
November the club sponsors a food drive requesting members and guest
to bring 4 cans of food each which is taken to the local Area Food
Bank . In December we ask members and guest to bring a toy for to
the dance for the local Operation Santa sponsored by the Firefighters
of Wichita Falls.Also in November the club has a Bake sale with proceeds
going to the club and in the spring we hold a garage sales with proceeds
also going to the club treasury which helps the Club keep dues down
as low as possible.
Being a member of Swinging Stars means you always have a friend to
call with good news or to share your sorrow .Our Square Dancers also
love to "pound' our newlyweds with groceries and Honor our Golden
Anniversary members with a wedding ring quilt. There is something
for everyone. Our summer events include a cookout/potluck at the Walkers
lovely ranch outside of Bowie,Texas,Potlucks at the hall (for any
reason ),a picnic at the end of August and the Best of all ,a week
in Red River, New Mexico every August when Robert Walker is the guest
caller at the Community House . Every month members gather at a local
restaurant (location changes monthly) to celebrate the birthdays and
anniversary and with 80 + it is always someone's birthday or anniversary.
Besides the square dancing which brought us all together,most importantly
we have fellowship ,love,support of our fellow members to help us
get through this life and for that we are all most thankful. come
