In 1977 the Wichita Falls Solos Square Dance Club was formed to promote square dancing as recreational activity for single persons. The club was member of the Red River Valley Association of Square and Round Dancers. Club dances are held on the third Saturday of the month at 8pm at Square Dance Land, 812 Travis . We also sponsor a potluck supper and workshop monthly on the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm at Square Dance Land. All dancers in the are are invited to attend Our Caller is Dee Roy who has been calling for the club since 1979. The third Saturday in April is our Anniversary Dance with Guest caller.


Being a member of the Wichita Falls Solos presents the opportunity to be a member of the Texas Association of Single Square Dancers. Each March a Round Up is held in a city in Texas. You can also be a member of Single Square Dancers USA which has a Dance-A-Rama Labor Day weekend. Attending these offers a chance to meet single dancers from all over the United States. It is usually less expensive to attend these and experience opportunities to see part of our great State and Nation than if you tried to do it on your own. Tours of the city and surrounding area are offered for a nominal fee or you can just go and dance and attend workshops.

The Solos also enjoy visiting other club's dances. Square dance lessons are offered several times a year in cooperation with other clubs in the area. June, July and August dances are cool and casual. The Solos also enjoy other activities. Each ;year we have a Fish Fry with the fish furnished by our caller Dee Roy. We also have a Christmas Party and exchange gifts. At the Christmas Party we bring food items for Interfaith Ministries. The Solos also enjoy other activities as meeting to play games and picnic on the 4th of July and watch fireworks at one of our member's home.
